I would agree that some early Coldplay tracks are definitely OK.

Problem is by the time they got big the lead singer just came across as one epically annoying knob.

They gave £10 million to Kids Company, no doubt that bought Camila Batmanghelidjh enough material for half a dress. The fact that couldn't see what a crook she is makes me doubt them massively. You need your rock stars to be clued up hellraising nutcases, not wishy washy liberal twats.

I'll let you in to a secret at this point. For every band or artist, there will be people that like them and people that don't. Both of these groups are likely to express their opinions at some stage. Once you grasp this fact, your life will become much easier.

Actually I think the Beetles are rubbish and yes I did like a bit of ELO and admired Jeff Lynne. He was quite a clever bloke but he'd never figure on my desert island discs. But then my tastes are quite diverse and include all sorts of music but mostly rock.
